  • Showdown Montana, the family-run ski area on Highway 89, celebrates 89 years of operation as the mountain holds excellent conditions this winter despite warmer weather. Generations of local skiers + their families continue to enjoy the enduring charm of this historic venue.  KULR8
  • Angela's Piazza, a Billings nonprofit that has helped women rebuild their lives for 28 years, will host its 21st annual Souper Bowl fundraiser Friday (with lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.) at American Lutheran Church on 5 Lewis Ave.  KTVQ
  • Local groups offer multiple community events as the weekend unfolds: Yellowstone County 4-H runs a fruit sale until Feb. 20 with 20-lb boxes available through local clubs, the Yellowstone Art Auction featured art and festivities on Friday, and a pop-up book sale (9am to 2pm) is supporting library programs today.  KTVQ

  • Paige Gran of Standout Bench Elementary received the One Class at a Time award (a $500 grant and gift card among other surprises) from the Education Foundation for Billings Public Schools, Western Security Bank, and City Brew Coffee, honoring her commitment to making students feel valued.  KTVQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Northern Cheyenne tribal leaders voted unanimously to oppose proposed exhibit changes at Little Bighorn Monument ahead of its summer 150th anniversary, saying the updates erase key parts of their history; federal officials claim the sign maintenance is routine & provide broader context. Leaders plan further dialogue to resolve the dispute.  KTVQ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Yellowstone County's 2026 Community Health Needs Assessment shows high rates of mental strain, substance abuse, and housing insecurity with nearly one in three residents worried about rent and three in ten having considered suicide. Local hospitals will draft a Health Improvement Plan this spring (public input is planned).  KULR8
  • A new health assessment shows that 48% of Yellowstone County residents report chronic depression symptoms and 26% rate their mental health as fair or poor. Health officials are reviewing the findings to plan better support for the community.  Billings Gazette
