  • RiverStone Health will purchase the boarded up Colonial Apartments and two nearby houses on South Side for $500,000 and will demolish the properties by year-end after asbestos removal — they plan to work with community partners to boost local housing and services for displaced tenants.  KULR8

  • Billings welcomed its first Circle K built from scratch when it opened on Thursday at the corner of North 27th Street and 6th Avenue North—adding a new spot for quick, everyday purchases.  Billings Gazette

CRIME NEWS

  • The Montana DOJ and Billings Police warned residents of a rising carfentanil threat in Yellowstone County on Wednesday after a task force seized 4,000 pills testing positive—highlighting the opioid’s extreme potency and risk of absorption.  KULR8

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Stillwater mine officials say the Commerce Department imposed a 132.83% tariff on Russian palladium imports Tuesday, and the measure could lead to reopening the mine & bring back nearly 700 laid-off workers. The company cautions full operations will not resume this year.  KTVQ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fourth-grade teacher Max Melfi from Miles Avenue Elementary was recognized today by the Education Foundation for Billings Public Schools with a $500 grant for his skill in connecting with his students (sponsored by Western Security Bank and City Brew Coffee).  KTVQ
  • Billings Public Schools opened its doors Thursday for Educator for a Day, letting community members tour Newman Elementary and see how principals manage roles as CEO and social worker. Attendees experienced a gym full of cheering kids while learning about the daily challenges in education.  KTVQ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Horticulture experts warn that Montana’s warm winter (the highest recorded since 1935) may disrupt plant-pollinator timing and boost ticks this summer. They say early plant activity could reduce bee food for pollinators and impact outdoor recreation.  KTVQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Gianforte urges eligible homeowners to register by March 1 at homestead.mt.gov to secure lower tax rates on primary residences and long-term rentals. Those who miss the deadline will face higher rates this year and must reapply to receive benefits starting in 2027.  KTVQ

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new FDA-approved treatment is giving hope to the Milligan family as their son Anakin shows significant progress against Menkes disease, which often ended life before age three. Shodair Children's Hospital in Helena now offers local care that eliminates long trips to Ohio.  KULR8
