Farmers in Montana face rising fertilizer costs due to global tensions and supply chain issues.
The Montana Grain Growers Association and Montana Department of Agriculture monitor the situation & work with producers as they plan for next season.
Billings Logan International Airport will expand summer service when Alaska Airlines adds a daily flight to Seattle on May 12 + United Airlines resumes seasonal flights to Chicago on May 21.
American Airlines will end winter service to Phoenix on April 7, with officials saying improved routes will boost tourism.
Nationwide diesel prices have risen to $5.04 per gallon due to higher crude oil prices from Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
In Montana, drivers see lower gasoline costs at $3.44 per gallon, though the national trend may raise local prices soon.
Family farms in Montana are disappearing as older farmers sell land to big corporations and housing developments grow (USDA data shows a more than 10% decline from 2017 to 2022).
Longtime auctioneer Rick Young said few next-generation farmers can afford to buy land.

Second Avenue North from east of Park 3 parking garage to North 27th Street is closed today for construction at the AC Marriott Hotel downtown while pedestrians are allowed to pass.
The project is part of the hotel's next phase and will continue until further notice.
