COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Mac McPherson from Billings has kept a two mile stretch on Interstate 90 clean by picking up trash as part of the Adopt a Highway program near Zoo Drive. He has collected thousands of pounds of litter over the years and continues to clean up rest stops when he travels with his wife.  KTVQ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • King Avenue West has reopened after a motorcycle and vehicle collision on March 23rd at 11:55 a.m. in the 2800 block triggered a police investigation that closed the road between 32nd Street West and 28th Street West—Sgt. Schwartz had advised drivers to avoid the area.  KULR8

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Downtown Billings now has 10 new businesses open in early 2025—far more than the 2 to 3 seen last year—as warmer weather is expected to boost foot traffic. Local business owners and the Downtown Billings Association say the mix, which includes food trucks and refill shops, shows promising growth for the area.  KTVQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On March 24, the Montana Senate debated disciplining former Senate president Jason Ellsworth after he approved a controversial state contract with a longtime business associate—more than half of senators supported expulsion but the vote did not meet the two-thirds rule. Party leaders offered differing disciplinary approaches as lawmakers continue to review the Ethics Committee findings and the Department of Justice may further investigate the issue.  KTVQ
  • The city of Billings approved a $6,169,295 project to repair, repave, and extend the crosswind runway at Billings Logan International Airport—this work will improve safety by allowing both lighter airplanes and heavier jets to operate when winds are strong. Construction will begin in May and finish in the fall, using $4 million from FAA funds along with other sources.  KTVQ
  • On March 21, local town hall meetings in Billings and Bozeman saw government officials decline invitations, leaving former Governor Racicot to address community concerns about state and national issues. Congressman Downing will host a telephone town hall on April 7 at 5:30 p.m. while Representative Zinke also declined to attend.  KULR8
