ECONOMY NEWS

  • National gas prices rose to $3.98 per gallon on Tuesday as oil prices surpassed $100 a barrel due to supply issues from Qatar & neighboring nations, while Montana’s average stayed about 30 cents lower.  KULR8

  • The Billings Public Schools Board of Trustees voted Monday night to submit a letter of interest to purchase the Rocky Mountain Bank building for $4.5 million. Their vote may open opportunities *to enhance local educational programs*.  Billings Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Billings city employees have submitted test results for oil that contaminated Yegen Ditch three weeks ago. The analysis will reveal if the oil comes from motor oil buildup or a refinery leak while officials stress there is no danger to the Yellowstone River.  KTVQ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Montana FWP shared a bear spray tutorial on Tuesday via Facebook to show how to use capsaicin spray for safety amid rising bear activity this spring — the guide explains how the spray affects bears to help keep you safe during outdoor outings.  KULR8
  • Montana ranchers face challenges this spring as a warm winter and dry conditions have raised respiratory illness risks in cattle — a shift that may lead to tighter feeding and smaller herd sizes if the weather does not improve soon.  KULR8

  • Daylis Stadium renovations are slightly ahead of schedule and aim to open for high school football on Aug. 27 near Billings Senior High School, with new grandstands, locker rooms, field turf, and a redesigned entrance.
