  • Jaden Marinko—a flight instructor with Choice Aviation who earned his pilot’s license there—now teaches at the new flight school in Billings that opened two weeks ago. He invites local residents to take introductory flights and explore their passion for flying.  KTVQ

  • Billings Police investigated a death on April 1 on a walking path behind Anacopa Lane in the Heights—responders tried to revive the victim but were not successful and officials said there is no danger to the public.  KULR8

CULTURE NEWS

  • The MSU Billings Powwow will be held on April 4 and April 5 at the PE Building in a drug & alcohol free setting with cultural dance competitions offering cash prizes for various age groups. Grand entries are set for Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at noon and 6 p.m., and the event will also include an Alumni Breakfast and a Stickgame Tournament on April 6.  KULR8

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks warns residents not to pick up baby wildlife because handling them may hurt the animals and bring predators—experts say many wild animals leave their young alone to stay safe and advise calling FWP if an animal is injured or abandoned.  KULR8
  • The U.S. Department of Justice announced Tuesday that it increased FBI presence in Indian Country by assigning 60 agents for 90-day periods over six months to support cases from the Salt Lake City office; the FBI—assisted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs Missing and Murdered Unit—is using modern forensic techniques to help solve cases involving missing indigenous persons.  KTVQ
  • On Apr. 1, 2025, the Montana Senate approved a motion to remove former Senate President Jason Ellsworth from all committee assignments and ban him from the Senate floor for life after an ethics investigation—this disciplinary measure passed with 44 out of 50 votes.  KTVQ
  • A Billings family has been battling over medical aid in dying as state Sen. Carl Glimm proposes a 2025 bill to remove legal protections for doctors who help very sick patients end their lives. The fight began with a 2009 court decision that gave patients more choice — now family members like Leslie Mutchler want Montana voters to decide on the future of end-of-life care.  KTVQ
  • The Council Operations Subcommittee will meet tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. in the Rimrock Conference Room on the 5th Floor of City Hall—this change avoids a scheduling conflict with an all-task force leadership meeting at 4:30 p.m.  City of Billings
  • Yellowstone County commissioners approved a new deal that sets the rate for federal inmates at $115 per day, replacing the earlier $117 rate, with the change set to begin May 1—this decision is expected to bring in about $500,000 extra each year. Commissioner Mark Morse said that taxpayers should not cover extra costs.  KTVQ

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Montanans are heading outdoors to hunt shed antlers as deer, elk and moose naturally drop them in late winter and spring. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks said public lands will allow shed hunting while some wildlife areas require a conservation license until May 15—hunters are advised to stick to open areas and travel in groups.  KTVQ
