- ➤ On Tuesday, the Montana Senate approved HB 252—the STARS Act—that would give extra funds to school districts if they raise the lowest teacher salary above $41,000 and offer rewards for expanding dual credit and career technical education programs; the bill now goes to the Senate Finance and Claims Committee. - ➤ Construction continues on the new MSU Billings nursing building at 1040 N. 29th St. — between St. Vincent Regional Hospital and Billings Clinic—while work on new classrooms, labs and study areas for the $11 million project, funded by a $101 million donation from Mark and Robyn Jones, will be finished by 2026. - ➤ Billings City Council voted Monday night to spend $340,000 to extend netting along the first and third base lines at Dehler Park to protect fans after foul ball injuries in past games. Several fans praised the safety measure—citing their previous experiences. KTVQ
- ➤ State lawmakers introduced House Bill 924, which would create a Growth and Opportunity Trust to save over $1 billion for programs—covering property tax relief, housing assistance, and infrastructure—and it passed the House 53-44. The Senate will review the bill and, if changes are made, return it to the House by April 23. KTVQ
- ➤ The state Senate is debating Senate Bill 364 that would require a warrant before a company can use a kill switch to disable personal electronic devices — a measure designed to prevent unauthorized shutdowns. The bill received unanimous consent in yesterday's hearing and will move forward with a third hearing later today. KULR8

- ➤ Laurel EMS in Laurel has launched a new program that collects recycled cans and sells them to raise money for car seats for children — the cans are processed at Pacific Steel in Billings.
