The Yellowstone Valley Area Special Olympic Games began in Lockwood this morning with a parade of athletes, a dance showcase, and the lighting of a cauldron—introducing new events that include a Young Athletes Showcase and unified races where athletes compete with their partners.

On Saturday, volunteers in yellow vests cleaned Billings streets and parks during Bright n’ Beautiful’s annual Great American Cleanup event, where about 1,100 helpers—including support from Mayor Bill Cole—worked together after months of planning.

Executive director Cindy Peters, new to the role, said the effort showed the community’s strong commitment to keeping the city clean.

Adrianne Fordyce, a beloved fitness instructor who died this year after a short battle with melanoma at age 42, touched many lives in Billings.

About 150 locals gathered on Friday and hundreds joined another memorial to honor her lasting legacy.

Billings' Canyon Creek String Ensemble celebrates 10 years of music and friendship today at 3 p.m. at Mayflower Congregational Church—starting in 2015 with a few players in living rooms, the group has grown to 23 members who share a passion for classical music and community connection.
