  • Billings teen Garrett Jarvis Door (18) was sentenced on Monday to 60 years in prison for his role in the shooting death of college football player Chandler Stalcup who was targeted after leaving a house party on Poly Drive.  Billings Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • Billings naturalist Lindsey Munson is working on a six-month project in which she creates detailed acrylic illustrations of over 100 parasites to challenge common views and show their important roles in nature. Her work was presented on Saturday at This House of Books during Earth Week programming with SustainaBillings—she plans to expand her collection with additional specimens in the future.  KTVQ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • An analysis from Lending Tree highlighted that Montana relies on 92% of its imports from Canada (making it the most affected state by any tariff changes on Canadian goods such as lumber). The study also showed that Washington, Idaho, and Oregon depend on Canadian imports at lower rates, which means any policy shifts may have wide impacts in the northwest.  KULR8

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montana’s USDA Farm Service Agency offers direct and guaranteed loans to new farmers and ranchers who are unable to get commercial credit. The agency lent more than $37 million last year and Acting State Executive Director Lance Wasson said the loans help cover farm purchases, equipment, and day-to-day costs — eligibility requires fewer than 10 years of experience and limits on farm ownership.  KULR8
  • The Billings City Commission is hosting a special presentation today to discuss future transportation strategies and improve public safety—residents are invited to share their feedback on proposals including zoning changes for six lots in the Buffalo Crossing subdivision with plans for 18 housing units.  KULR8
