- ➤ An analysis from Lending Tree highlighted that Montana relies on 92% of its imports from Canada (making it the most affected state by any tariff changes on Canadian goods such as lumber). - ➤ Montana’s USDA Farm Service Agency offers direct and guaranteed loans to new farmers and ranchers who are unable to get commercial credit. The agency lent more than $37 million last year and Acting State Executive Director Lance Wasson said the loans help cover farm purchases, equipment, and day-to-day costs — eligibility requires fewer than 10 years of experience and limits on farm ownership.
