  • Melissa Dunn, a Laurel mother grieving the loss of her daughter in a fatal crash four years ago, expressed anger over the five-year sentence given to the man involved while state senators endorsed two property tax bills scheduled for final votes today. The Montana State University College of Nursing will use a $2.3 million grant to train 108 paraprofessionals by 2028—efforts that a local health worker said could help address the growing mental health crisis.  KTVQ

  • An 18-year-old man, Garrett Door III, was sentenced Monday to 60 years in prison — with 10 years suspended for his role in the 2023 shooting death of a Rocky Mountain College football player.  KTVQ

  • Billings Fire Chief Pepper Valdez, who served for 26 years, said he is stepping down to become chief for Mountain View Fire and Rescue in Longmont, Colorado on June 2—he expressed confidence in his team to handle the department's increasing call volume.  KULR8
  • Lawmakers linked two property tax bills, SB 542 + HB 231, in the final days of session to adjust rates for homes and businesses, and the Senate endorsed both on initial votes. The Senate will take final votes on both bills today while the House will vote on HB 231 on Wednesday morning, and critics say the revisions may shift the tax burden.  KTVQ
