Good morning, Billings. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 7th of May.

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Two candidates endorsed by the largest teachers’ union won the contested Billings school board seats Tuesday. Jourdan Guidice defeated Amanda Brown in District 5 with nearly a two-to-one margin and former coach Luke Ashmore beat incumbent John VonLangen in District 7—unofficial results remain pending certification.  KTVQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pam Ellis, David Graves and Greg Erpenback were elected yesterday to fill three seats on the Billings Heights water board, with two winners campaigning for consolidation with Billings. The board now awaits a report from consultant Morrison-Maierle—this finding may direct future decisions on joining the city.  KTVQ
  • Gov. Greg Gianforte vetoed a bipartisan bill that would ban most Styrofoam used in restaurants, saying it would cost taxpayers $300,000 plus force higher costs on 7,500 local businesses and consumers. The bill, which passed both chambers with strong support, planned to reduce waste from single-use polystyrene food containers.  KTVQ
  • Billings will follow a state mandate to override the voters’ mill levy cap so that homeowners save about $205 on the city tax portion in 2026 and 2027, affecting the part that normally makes up 30% of the total.  Billings Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lockwood athlete Dani Jordan earned 14 varsity letters by playing volleyball, cross country and flag football while scoring over 1,000 points in basketball — she is now a Midland Roundtable Athlete of the Year finalist among Billings’ top seniors with the awards banquet set for May 12 at 7 p.m.  KTVQ

Zero Sugar Hydration

Dehydration isn’t only about water. It’s about losing BOTH fluids and electrolytes. If you’re just replacing one of them, you’re still running low.

The more you sweat, the more dehydrated you’ll get. Make sense?

To rehydrate, you’ll need to consume more electrolytes. The problem is: most electrolyte drinks are actually just sugar drinks. Electrolytes are only an afterthought.

Luckily there’s LMNT: a zero-sugar electrolyte drink (mixes + sparkling!) that delivers a meaningful dose of electrolytes free of sugar, artificial colors, and other dodgy ingredients.

LMNT helps to prevent headaches, fatigue, and muscle cramps while also supporting a low-carb lifestyle.

Use LMNT to kickstart your day, enhance your workouts, recover from a late night, or even breeze through jet lag.

Ready to give LMNT a try? Enjoy a FREE sample pack of eight flavors today with any purchase (even if it’s not your first order!), plus a money-back satisfaction guarantee. Seriously—if you don’t like LMNT for any reason, they’ll give you a refund no questions asked.
