COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Veterans shared their service stories during a three-day film workshop at MSU Billings hosted by the Patton Veterans Project, where 13 local veterans created short films to highlight challenges like PTSD, homelessness, and substance use. The program included a psychologist for support— a public screening is planned for mid-June.  KTVQ
  • On May 16, the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office rescued a horse named Cowboy from the Yellowstone River near Riverfront Park by teaming with Air 1, Gary Blaine, Shane Weinreis from the U.S. Water Rescue Dive Team—local community members helped guide him safely to shore. The sheriff's office thanked everyone for their support.  KULR8

CRIME NEWS

  • Victor Adams, 36, was arrested after a suspicious package was found outside Old Chicago at 920 South 24th St. W. on Sunday morning—police evacuated the restaurant and the Bomb Squad rendered the device safe while Adams now faces charges of intimidation and criminal trespass and is held in Yellowstone County jail.  KTVQ
  • First responders found the body of 51-year-old Keith Troy Breckenridge in an alley on Billings South Side on Friday, and Yellowstone County Deputy Coroner Valerie Juhl confirmed he was stabbed to death.  Billings Gazette
  • Billings police arrested a woman after an armed standoff in the 700 block of 22nd Street West over the weekend; they also found a 51-year-old man with stab wounds and blunt-force trauma near Adams and Roosevelt just after 10 p.m. Friday and are checking a shooting at a gas station on King Avenue during a car meetup on May 9—no one was hurt. Organizers of the Cars and Coffee event planned for this weekend say that safe meetups show care for the community—events will go on as planned.  KTVQ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ben Steele Middle School in Billings won first place in Montana in the Vocabulary.com Vocabulary Bowl by mastering 6,568 words during a contest that ended at the end of March—where over 300,000 learners and 30,000 teachers from 109 countries took part.  KTVQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A group of 15 British soldiers is training with the Montana Army National Guard in the Limestone Hills near Townsend for two weeks. The exercises focus on tank operations to improve interoperability between allied forces—Montana troops will head to the United Kingdom in October to continue the collaboration.  KTVQ
