  • Billings bicycle mechanic Joey Isbell opened Shift Bicycle Company on First Ave N & plans to transform the repurposed Quonset hut into a community hub for local riders.  Billings Gazette

  • Farmers in east and south central Montana face a tough season as a heat wave and strong winds — a blow-dryer effect — dry out soil today. Sarah Degn of Fresh and Hopped Farm said the extreme weather forces hard production choices and spurs calls for a new farm bill.  KULR8

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Billings sisters have built KidsPod, a children’s audio streaming app partnering with Wise Wonders for an interactive listening station featuring kid-friendly podcasts and audiobooks for ages 3 to 13. The installation will debut later this week.  Billings Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • Billings resident Mike Toth, who had gastric bypass nearly two years ago, now rides his bike and camps thanks to Billings Clinic’s metabolic and bariatric program (recently reaccredited by MBSAQIP). The program pairs surgery with nutrition, behavioral health, and medical support to help patients regain their health.  KULR8
  • Marilyn Orendorff, a 13-year-old who died by suicide in October near Skyview High School, is remembered by family and friends who are organizing a free suicide prevention car show (June 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) at Harvest Church to raise funds for local counseling resources.  KTVQ

  • Renovations at the former Daylis Stadium are ahead of schedule as new grandstands are installed; the first games will take place on Aug. 27, moving up the planned October opening.  Billings Gazette
  • Kenna Pfeifle of Billings Skyview, who was diagnosed with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy after a seizure, has overcome health challenges — she has committed to play Division II softball at University of Jamestown and plans to pass the CPA exam to become an accountant.  KTVQ
