ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Billings woman credited former medical colleagues with saving her life after a bison from her herd attacked her while she tried to rescue her dog on her ranch—she spent three days in the ICU before coming home.  KTVQ

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Holiday gas station in downtown Billings will close on June 6 and will expand into two adjacent lots as a remodeled Circle K store with new landscaping — picnic tables, diesel pumps and a carwash. The project will update local convenience services in the area.  Billings Gazette

CRIME NEWS

  • Marcia Lynn Jefferson admitted in Yellowstone County District Court that she drove drunk on Interstate 90 at 90 mph on Dec. 31 when her 2008 Jeep crashed through a fence and killed passenger Glen Seth Myers—she pleaded guilty to felony counts of negligent homicide and criminal endangerment along with a misdemeanor DUI—prosecutors now recommend 30 years in prison with 10 suspended while no sentencing date is set, and she remains free on bond.  KTVQ
  • Billings police responded a few minutes before midnight Tuesday at F.O.E. located at 526 Laurie Lane when a 31-year-old man was shot once and transported to a local hospital, with his condition not released.  KTVQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Billings city council approved a change to the city administrator's contract on Tuesday evening after a six to five vote that guarantees an annual pay raise.  Billings Gazette
  • Today a major water main break closed westbound traffic at Central Ave and 15th St W in Billings while eastbound lanes are reduced to one; city crews are working to flush the main and restore water service with repairs expected to take about two days.  KULR8
  • Motorized scooters are now regulated by Montana law after House Bill 588 was signed last week by Rep. Neil Duram—this new law gives scooters the same rights as bicycles but restricts them from use on sidewalks and bike paths and limits speeds to 30 mph. The law also sets safety standards including white headlights and braking requirements for a stop from 10 mph within 25 feet.  KTVQ
  • Billings City Council voted 9 to 2 today to keep residential water rates unchanged for fiscal year 26 starting July 1. The council will defer decisions on wastewater rates while planning a 2 percent increase in residential rates for fiscal year 27 due to inflation and pipe replacement costs.  KTVQ
