BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ NorthWestern Energy increased electric bills on May 23 by roughly 16.87%—about $17.07 extra per month for typical residential customers—using an obscure Montana law, and the new rates will be reviewed by the Montana Public Service Commission starting June 9 with customers set to receive rebates if the final rates are lower. This rate increase affects roughly 405,000 Montana customers and comes as the company cites rising property taxes and construction costs for its new gas-fired plant. Billings Gazette

- ➤ Billings Police investigated a shooting outside the FOE club in Billings Heights on May 29th at 8:21 a.m.—a 31-year-old man fired his gun at a 22-year-old man's car during a fight before shooting himself, leaving him with life-threatening injuries while the other man remained unharmed and officers continue to probe the incident. - ➤ Yellowstone County prosecutors charged Shyanna Jo Whitewolf with deliberate homicide in connection with a truck robbery that led to a stabbing of a man — she is accused of collaborating with Violet Littlelight in the planning of the crime. Billings Gazette
