  • Teenagers and Tumbleweed staff joined City Code Enforcement on Wednesday to remove graffiti near the Sixth Street West underpass using gray paint. The group worked in a safe, off-road area, and 18-year-old Phoenix Raether suggested using brighter colors in the future—demonstrating a strong community effort.  KTVQ
  • Eight veteran-service dog teams in Billings graduated today after two years of training with Dog Tag Buddies — the program helped veterans build trust with their service dogs and reclaim independence.  KULR8

CRIME NEWS

  • On Saturday morning, two suspects jumped the fence and stole fuel from a 12-passenger van at Kid Kountry Child Development Center — the van used to shuttle children from 11 Billings schools — and Billings police are investigating the theft.  KTVQ
  • Yellowstone County sheriffs are investigating the death and disappearance of a horse named Zap—a horse with a scar near its rear hip—that was last seen near his home in Billings; they ask anyone with information to contact them right away.  KULR8
  • Billings authorities charged a 14-year-old boy as an adult with deliberate homicide after he and a 32-year-old were involved in beating a man who was tied up at Meadowlark Trailer Park, and police confirmed a 76-year-old nursing home resident reported missing is safe after leaving on her own. City officials are also considering a budget increase of about $1 million for the Billings Fire Department next fiscal year, with 82 percent of its funds going to personnel.  KTVQ

  • Airbnb's recent report showed that in 2024 its platform generated $472 million and supported 6,500 jobs in Montana—guest spending reached $280 million and the platform added $104 million in tax revenue as tourism season approached.  KULR8
  • Montana farmers and ranchers face uncertainty as Congress extends the current Farm Bill one year at a time while lawmakers work on a full five-year plan. Industry leaders warn that these delays may weaken price supports and risk management tools for rural producers—with the current bill set to end Sept. 30.  KTVQ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local anglers and tourists should check new fishing rules in Montana’s handbook that set a daily limit of three trout and require paddlefish hooks to have pinched barbs—changes that aim to manage the busy season. Jim Stein of Crosscurrents Fly Shop said many anglers visiting the rivers—boosting the local fishing economy—should know these rules well.  KTVQ
