Billings Fire Department hosted its first pickleball fundraiser at Lillis Park from June 20-22, raising over $1,000—money that will support its long-running benevolent fund for families affected by fire and emergencies.

Ben Derby, a West High graduate, ended his performance at the Red Lodge Music Festival as he prepares to study music education at the University of Montana this fall—he said the festival taught him that music brightens lives.

At the Billings Public Library, families joined a celebration marking 30 years of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library—an event that featured a book reading, coloring activities, a look-a-like contest, and karaoke to promote early childhood literacy.

United Way of Yellowstone County sponsors the program locally, which has 4,300 kids registered and has distributed 270 million books worldwide.

Kate Sousa runs the Lazy Sousa Ranch in Huson where her family has raised horses and cows since 1982—she trains the animals for friendliness and sells them across the nation, including a herd of 25 horses and 50 Scottish Highland cows.
