  • Healthy by Design Gardeners’ Market operates every Thursday at South Park from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. until Oct. 2 to provide fresh produce and a $30 voucher per eligible family member through Montana WIC—helping low-income South Side residents get fruits, vegetables and herbs while the market also accepts SNAP tokens and senior coupons and welcomes new local vendors.  KTVQ
  • Today, the Oak Ridge Boys will perform a farewell show at 7:30 p.m. at the Alberta Bair Theater as part of their American Made tour—Billings’ Big Sky Balloon Rally is offering tethered hot air balloon flights from Amend Park each morning. On Sunday, July 27, the Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter will host the Hiking Hounds volunteer program starting at 8 a.m.—volunteers will meet at YVAS and then head to Two Moon Park for a day-hike with shelter dogs.  KTVQ
  • A new group called Access Billings is working to improve accessibility at local venues for people with disabilities. Founder Mitch Bohn said the organization grades businesses on features like ramps and braille— and he hopes similar efforts will grow in other Montana cities.  KULR8

  • Billings entrepreneur Katalin Walker launched Walkin Grounds Coffee from her kitchen on July 18 to serve espresso drinks paired with oral storytelling that honor her Indigenous heritage. She is finalizing food service licenses and exploring a mobile service (adding QR codes for audio stories) to connect with urban Native Americans.  Billings Gazette

CRIME NEWS

  • Police reported that a possible homicide late Wednesday night on Cook Avenue left one person dead when the victim was taken by a private vehicle to Billings Clinic and pronounced dead at 9:17 p.m.—authorities have located a person of interest as the investigation continues amid residents' growing safety concerns.  KTVQ
  • Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks said seven people from Montana and Washington have been charged in Musselshell County Justice Court for unlawfully killing bull elk and mule deer bucks in the Bull Mountains near Roundup between 2020 and 2024 — the investigation began with a confidential tip and led to the seizure of 11 taxidermy mounts as evidence.  KTVQ
  • Kennedy Rose Aigner admitted shooting Quaid Fluckiger in the head with a .22 pistol inside a Shepherd home on Feb. 24 and was sentenced to 55 years at Montana Women's Prison—she must also pay $2,797 in restitution.  KTVQ

  • The 10th annual Big Sky Balloon Rally kicked off this morning at Amend Park in Billings — 17-year veteran pilot Ginny launched her balloon 'Hot and Bothered' in calm weather and pilots will take to the skies for four days — promising a vibrant display for local residents.  KULR8

  • Search and rescue teams in Montana have worked hard since late winter as more tourists explore wild lands, with Missoula County’s 35 members and Gallatin County’s 100 volunteers + 3 paid staff handling more calls than in 2024. A slowdown in early spring may show that visitors are taking safer steps while enjoying the outdoors.  KULR8
