Twenty-three-year-old Sami Elkins, a fourth generation balloon pilot, helped light up Amend Park at the Big Sky Balloon Rally during a candlestick glow event that showed her family's long tradition in balloon flight.

Nine people—including an infant—were rescued from Lake Elmo after several lost their flotation devices, and three were taken to a hospital, Billings Fire said.
A worker died following an electrical incident underground early Saturday morning while performing routine maintenance at Stillwater Mine—investigators from MSHA and internal teams are examining the incident as the mine remains closed.

The clinic will begin work in February 2026 and plans to finish the project by winter.
