ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Black smoke fills Billings sky as the Lockwood scrap yard fire burns—an employee said the scrap heap included old cars.  Billings Gazette

CRIME NEWS

  • The driver of a commercial truck—Sarbjeet Parmar, 39 from Buckey, Wash.—was charged with negligent homicide and five counts of felony criminal endangerment after his vehicle left the median on Interstate 90 at mile marker 431 at about 4 p.m. on Dec. 22, killing retired Coast Guard veteran Kevin Wilkerson of Laurel and striking two other vehicles; he is set to be arraigned Monday afternoon.  KTVQ
  • Lake Elmo State Park was targeted by vandals on Monday August 11 — vandals broke a toilet with a rock, scattered wet toilet paper balls in the women’s pavilion, and destroyed 17 sprinkler heads near the FWP office while officials offered up to a $1,000 reward for tips.  KTVQ
  • Lake Elmo Drive was closed late Sunday as police investigated a reported shooting/disturbance — the incident was reported after 10 p.m. near Killarney Street and the road reopened a few hours later.  KTVQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Mayor and Council have been invited to an open house today from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the new CASA of Yellowstone County location at 550 N. 31st Street; a ribbon cutting with the Billings Chamber of Commerce starts at 4:15 p.m.—if a quorum is present, no City-related business decisions will be made.  City of Billings

HEALTH NEWS

  • Billings Clinic named its Level One trauma center the Fortin Trauma Tower after receiving a $7 million gift from the Fortin Family Foundation (donated in 2022) to boost its patient care services. The funding helped build a new surgical ICU, transfer center, and health flight program to expand critical care in the region.  KTVQ

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • After years of crime+decay and legal battles, the Colonial Apartments on Billings South Side faces an uncertain future as the owner's daughter plans to board up the property by the end of September. RiverStone Health is in early talks to purchase the building+ may transform it into a space for community wellness amid ongoing litigation and tenant relocation efforts.  KTVQ
