- ➤ Dave Kimball, a former Air Force pilot who returned to Billings, was honored with an Eco-Justic award by Presbyterians for Earth Care for his work organizing the community garden at St. Andrews Presbyterian Community Garden. The garden, which he helped start 23 years ago, now has over 100 plots—half available to the public and half used to donate produce to local organizations. KTVQ
- ➤ Billings' Man Shop on Grand Avenue gave free back-to-school haircuts Monday to help parents save money for school supplies—families found relief as students prepared for class. Barber Roni Mounteer said the service eases hardship—many parents took advantage of the offer. KTVQ

- ➤ A 12-year-old girl died on August 22 when a Jeep driven by a 42-year-old man veered off the right side of I-90 in Yellowstone County—another passenger was injured after the vehicle flipped, Montana Highway Patrol said. KULR8

- ➤ Brady Schug is a 21-year-old student and newlywed who runs the Wonderful Wiener hot dog cart in Billings. He grew up at summer camp (Clydehurst Christian Ranch) and will expand his seasonal business as long as the weather permits while he studies at MSUB. Billings Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Billings School District 2 board voted 8-1 on Monday to raise the stadium project budget to $14.9 million—an extra $2.4 million needed to fix a 21-inch field slope. The district has secured about 70 percent of the funds so far and now plans to fundraise roughly $8 million while campaign manager Chase Rose expects the new Daylis Stadium to open next fall. KTVQ
- ➤ The Montana Department of Administration is planning to centralize state agencies’ procurement, human resources, and information technology under its management. Department director Misty Ann Giles said meetings with agencies have shown positive responses—procurement changes will start this fall while HR shifts occur early next year and IT updates will take longer.
