COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Montana Rescue Mission fired its leader Matt Lundgren as it began an internal investigation, and he is no longer affiliated with the agency, the Billings Leadership Foundation — or the Friendship House. Officials have not yet announced if there will be any changes to services.  KULR8

CRIME NEWS

  • Six men from Montana and Washington pleaded guilty in Musselshell County Court to poaching bull elk and mule deer bucks near Roundup between 2020 and 2024 as Fish, Wildlife, and Parks wardens, following tips from the public, seized 11 mounts of evidence plus issued fines and license revocations.  KULR8

CULTURE NEWS

  • Yesterday, Billings artist Jon Lodge opened his big Carbon STRATA display at the Yellowstone Art Museum at 5pm—drawing on the mining history of our area. Today, the Billings Gem and Mineral Show starts at 10am at Montana Pavilion, and on Sunday the Walk Out of the Darkness at Will James Middle School will raise funds to help prevent suicide.  KTVQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montana and 27 states have asked the US Supreme Court to strike down California's ban on large capacity magazines. State attorneys general claim the law infringes on gun rights + critics say the measure is needed to reduce gun violence.  KULR8
  • Billings City Council member Mike Boyett is working with the Southside Task Force to push for cleanup of a dirty retention pond left behind by a state renovation near Sixth Street West—he said the pond has become unsafe with bird droppings and will force residents to voice concerns at the Oct. 16 meeting at Walla Walla University.  KTVQ
