🚧 Accidents
The search for a missing hiker at Rimrock Lake in Carbon County has been ongoing for three months after he fell into East Rosebud Creek in early June—Red Lodge Fire Rescue said the current swept him away.
A dive team from Billings has arrived with special equipment to search under rocks and inside crevasses along the creek.
📰 Economy
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that beef prices have risen almost 14% compared to last August and many local shoppers now choose chicken over beef.
Local businesses say Brazilian beef faces a 76% tariff — and USDA actions have suspended cattle crossings from Mexico, pushing consumers to adjust their spending.
🏛️ Government
Attorney General Austin Knudsen launched an investigation into tech companies for allegedly misleading claims about renewable energy—joined by over a dozen states—after sending a letter on Wednesday to executives at Microsoft, Meta, Google, and Amazon.
The inquiry accuses the companies of using fossil fuels and unbundled renewable energy certificates to offset their emissions and blames them for closing coal and gas plants in Montana and elsewhere.
