- ➤ NonStop Local has partnered with Black Hills Federal Credit Union to bring books to schools in Billings, starting at Castle Rock School where John Martin presented a $2,000 check this morning—further visits will be made to different public schools each month to boost education. KULR8
- ➤ Huntley Project School District broke ground Wednesday afternoon on a $1.7M multipurpose center — built near staff parking across from Huntley Project High School — to serve as a gym, classroom, and wrestling practice space. Superintendent Mark Wandle said construction is expected to finish by spring, giving students a spot to practice during bad weather. KTVQ

- ➤ Northwest lawmakers say the federal government shutdown is due to a funding stalemate that may hurt military, veterans and essential services. Montana senators Steve Daines and Tim Sheehy declared the shutdown a partisan move and said they will work on a temporary extension until November 21—hoping to secure payments for service members and the public. - ➤ Billings is asking residents to suggest names for new water reservoirs that are part of its largest public works project; the project will provide reliable water during emergencies and lower energy costs—supporting the city's growth. The reservoirs will also offer a scenic spot for recreation. KULR8
- ➤ The Montana National Guard said it reviewed guidance from the Office of Management and Budget and the National Guard Bureau to identify mission-essential employees who will work even though their pay may be delayed during the government shutdown. Adjutant General Trent Gibson said the Guard remains ready to handle emergencies and will care for all members and their families—assuring continued support during the shutdown. KULR8
- ➤ Federal agencies across the region felt the impact when the government entered a partial shutdown at midnight after Congress failed to reach a budget deal—many federal employees now face uncertain pay while national parks continue limited services. In Billings, a former nonprofit CEO was charged with felony embezzlement of over $10,000 and officials in Laurel are examining a potential site for a new state mental hospital following recent funding approvals. - ➤ Billings Clinic opened its new Reger Family High Risk Breast Clinic today at a ribbon-cutting ceremony—this clinic will offer early breast cancer detection and care to women at risk, addressing a waitlist of 300 patients. KULR8
