  • Kallie Cremer is still searching for her missing cat Ollie after animal control dropped him off in a field near her home instead of taking him to the shelter—she said a miscommunication between animal control and the Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter led to the mistake and left her frustrated.  KTVQ
  • On Sunday, a cattle hauler carrying over 100 cows overturned on an I-94 roundabout in Miles City, and local volunteers helped control the 120 animals with more than 90% surviving the crash. In Billings, the Angel Initiative is stepping up safe harbor efforts for people with substance abuse issues, and a new breast cancer clinic now offers free mammograms to catch problems early — giving local residents renewed hope.  KTVQ

  • Montana drivers are urged to be extra careful in fall and spring when wildlife crashes account for 13% of all collisions; the Montana Department of Transportation collects over 6,000 animal carcasses annually—highlighting the common risks on our roads. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Montana fell 2.6¢ per gallon to an average of $3.12 as of Monday + prices ranged from $2.85 to $4.19. The national average dropped slightly to $3.08, and Montana prices are 12.7¢ lower than a month ago and 9.1¢ lower than last year + reflecting a clear downward trend.  KTVQ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Billings' Recycle to Reforest program has run for 45 years turning recyclables into trees in city parks and now faces issues from increased non-recyclable trash—prompting new containers that accept only aluminum cans with support from Radius Recycling. Residents are urged to drop off aluminum cans at Stewart Park, Veterans Park, or Clevenger Park to help keep the program strong.  KULR8

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Milling and paving work on Zoo Drive in Billings began October 6th and is set to last two weeks. Traffic will shift between the north and south sides of the road — Pierce Parkway and Gabel Road will face brief closures, so drivers should use Broso Park Drive, Hesper Road and Shiloh Road for alternate access.  KULR8
  • Several Montana groups have proposed constitutional and statutory initiatives for the 2026 ballot. Montanans Decide submitted a measure to change the ballot process—its proposal seeks to lower fees and simplify signature gathering while other proposals target judicial election labels, property tax caps and limits on corporate spending, with state reviews in progress.  KTVQ
