- ➤ The 21st Billings HarvestFest will take place on October 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. downtown—featuring food trucks, crafts and live entertainment—and invite visitors of all ages. The event—organized by Downtown Billings’ Business Improvement District and presented by Montana Brewing Company—will include a Stein hoisting contest, face painting, balloon twisting and a Wise Wonders Activity zone with a climbing wall and haunted maze. - ➤ ZooMontana has named Jessica Hart as its permanent president and CEO. She has worked there since 2020 and served as interim president since February 2025—under her leadership the zoo will build its first animal health center and add more animals soon. KULR8
- ➤ Billings tenants at Rose Park Plaza raised concerns about unsafe living conditions at an event held by Rose Park Tenants United and urged Capital Realty Group to fix issues like mold, insect infestations, and broken locks, union secretary Kaelin Mathis said. KULR8
- ➤ A Billings tenant union (formed with Bozeman Tenants United) held a Thursday press conference on the Yellowstone County Courthouse lawn to demand that Capital Realty Group fix long-standing issues such as delayed repairs, pest infestations and mold affecting residents. The union (representing 112 units) said the company will soon be held accountable as state leaders urged that all apartments remain safe and habitable. KTVQ

- ➤ Montana Rescue Mission leadership detailed future plans Thursday in response to sexual assault accusations against an addiction counselor and social worker—Billings police are handling the investigation while the nonprofit plans to reestablish communication with local partners. KTVQ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, Montana campuses including MSU Billings, Montana State, University of Montana and Montana Tech are accepting professional clothing donations to help students prepare for job interviews through their Career Closet programs—community members are donating items such as suits, dresses and shoes with some locations also offering resume help and serving nearly 600 students. - ➤ Yellowstone County Sheriff James Meeks will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. during National Police Week on May 13 — a tribute following his heroic death on July 9, 1972 while rescuing boaters under the Yellowstone River Bridge in Laurel — after Undersheriff Robert Lester fought for his recognition. - ➤ Billings Firefighters endorsed Mike Nelson for mayor because he helped pass a Public Safety Mill Levy and supported firefighter events—steps that show his commitment to public safety—bolstering his campaign. KULR8

- ➤ Billings woman Sheryl Shockley fought stage 2 breast cancer starting in March 2023, had a mastectomy, and then faced a recurrence in November.
