COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Maple Moose at Rail Line opens today on Billings' South Side and offers coffee, pop and Wilcoxson's Ice Cream sweets on South 29th Street.  Billings Gazette
  • Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter is offering Howl-o-Grams for Halloween where for $20 people get candy, a card — plus a visit from a costumed shelter or staff dog — delivered only to workplaces. This fundraiser builds on past efforts and will later include the Christmas season.  KULR8

CULTURE NEWS

  • Twenty-four stand-up comics are in Billings for the Big Sky Comedy Festival, drawing a national following and filling local venues. The festival held shows on Friday and will conclude today at the Alberta Bair Theater—while all comics stay at the Clocktower Inn and boost local business.  KTVQ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At West High, teacher Erin Hall was honored today by the One Class at a Time program—sponsored by the Education Foundation for Billings Public Schools, Western Security Bank, and City Brew Coffee—for her work expanding the school garden where students learn by doing. She is working with colleague Ty Spitzer to add accessible raised beds and interactive features that will allow more classes to participate.  KTVQ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks announced a partial closure of the Whitebird Fishing Access Site due to bridge damage on the access road—walk-in access remains allowed—while vehicle access is banned until the bridge is repaired.  KULR8

HEALTH NEWS

  • Billings woman Kriston Lowrance faced her fear when her doctor scheduled a mammogram in April that led to a stage one breast cancer diagnosis—she then underwent a unilateral mastectomy and began a five-year medication plan. Now recovered and back at work, she encourages other women to get regular screenings for early detection.  KTVQ
  • Billings Clinic has introduced a contrast-enhanced mammogram that uses iodine-based dye to help doctors spot hidden breast cancers in women with dense breast tissue—patients get a quick IV injection before a 15-minute scan—this tool aims to catch cancers early.  KTVQ
  • A Billings woman urges others to trust their instincts when a lump she noticed was dismissed and later revealed as triple-negative breast cancer. Diagnosed at 35, she battled 18 rounds of chemotherapy and surgery — now cancer-free — and shares her story to encourage self-advocacy.  KTVQ
  • More than 130 breast cancer survivors gathered Friday morning at Q2 studio for its 15th annual Pink Breakfast to benefit Pack the Place in Pink. Organizers planned the event—months ahead—and provided pink boas and photo opportunities to celebrate survivors and stress the importance of early screenings.  KTVQ

  • Banana Ball will come to Billings with a three-game series at Dehler Park from Aug. 20–22, 2026 featuring the Party Animals and Firefighters, the league announced Thursday—tickets will be available through a lottery.  KTVQ
  • The Billings Mustangs and Visit Billings hosted the Savannah Bananas at Dehler Park from August 20 to 22— the event offered music, fan participation and nonstop action as the Bananas made their only Montana stop.  KULR8
