- ➤ The Harvest Festival is underway in downtown Billings today as locals enjoy food, crafts, and live music. Organizers plan to support local vendors with seasonal activities. Billings Gazette
- ➤ Downtown Billings hosted the 21st annual Harvest Festival Saturday when crowds enjoyed live music, food, and a show by the Magic City Witch Dancers—who entertained with dancing and trinket giveaways. Local vendor Ann’s Pies joined for the first time, selling 79 pies between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. KTVQ

- ➤ The Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings faced a funding cut of over $100K by Yellowstone County Commissioners to boost jail operations (which led to four layoffs and the cancellation of several educational programs) but it will continue its youth education programs that serve 7,000 to 9,000 students annually. - ➤ Shepherd residents led by protest group Stop the Shepherd Landfill appealed a court decision that allowed Pacific Steel & Recycling’s landfill near Shepherd to begin operations this spring—arguing that the state review did not fully examine the risks from harmful waste. KTVQ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Billings Public Works has launched a lakes naming contest for the new reservoirs that will be part of the water treatment plant on the north side of Hesper Road near the Shiloh Conservation Area — residents can submit name ideas until October 31 at 5 p.m. and the reservoirs will offer trails, non-motorized boating, swimming and fishing.
