  • Over the weekend, Yesteryears Antique Mall—located in the Albin Building—was flooded after a clogged storm drain sent rain and wastewater into the store; store manager Austin Kramer said unique antiques, a candy inventory valued up to $40,000, and a coffee shop were damaged and the mall may reopen in a few days or weeks.  KULR8

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montana education leaders released new AI guidelines today—these guidelines help school districts set rules for using artificial intelligence in classrooms. The guidance offers clear measures for safely implementing AI in schools.  Billings Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State leaders approved Montana's new HEART program today to help inmates transition back to the community by offering Medicaid services 30 days before release—this includes medication-assisted treatment, case management and a 30-day supply of medicine. The initiative aims to reduce relapse and overdose risks for the roughly 250 inmates released this year.  KULR8
  • Big Sky Economic Development named an interim executive director and announced it will form a new search committee in the coming weeks—further details will be released soon.  Billings Gazette
  • Helena — The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation launched an interactive map that shows forest product manufacturers and details like product types, wood species, and facility sizes across the state. Officials say the tool supports forest restoration, wildfire risk reduction, and local jobs and was unveiled ahead of Forest Products Industry Week from Oct 19 to 25.  KULR8

HEALTH NEWS

  • Billings doctors advised residents to get the MMR vaccine as measles cases have risen nationwide, with the CDC reporting almost 1,600 confirmed cases and three deaths and Montana recording 32 infections, including four in Yellowstone County as of Wednesday. They explained that early measles symptoms mimic the flu and stressed vaccination for both children and adults—especially as cold and flu season approaches.  KTVQ

  • Helena cowboy Sam Petersen, a 22-year-old bareback rider, is set to ride in his first National Finals Rodeo in December in Las Vegas—he earned nine wins and two co-championships this season and sits second in the PRCA standings.  KTVQ
