- ➤ Billings Public Library held its inaugural craft supplies swap-meet yesterday where residents could bring donated materials and take home free supplies, helping cut costs and waste. Reference librarian Mary Russell organized the event—featuring about 10,000 items from yarn to beads—and noted that similar swaps in other libraries will continue this month. KTVQ
- ➤ The Billings Fire Department hosted an award ceremony Saturday afternoon that honored two teenage girls (Sadie DeBusk and Hallelujah McPherson) for rescuing a 10-year-old girl and her father in Lake Elmo on July 27 and six firefighters for their brave actions this year. The firefighters received medals for efforts including saving people from a burning trailer, treating a man injured by a semi-truck, and helping premature twins. KTVQ
- ➤ More than 3,000 people gathered in downtown Billings on Saturday for a protest against what local organizers described as authoritarian policies + they filled blocks near the Yellowstone County Courthouse lawn carrying signs and singing to support representative government + the event was part of a nationwide effort to push for greater civic accountability.
