  • A Billings nonprofit, Tumbleweed, received a federal Basic Center Grant on Oct. 1 to expand help for runaway and missing youth, adding a 24-hour emergency bed through a Youth Services Center partnership (helping five teens on its first day).  KTVQ
  • Pilgrim Congregational Church celebrated 115 years on South 36th Street and Fourth Avenue South in Billings this fall. Longtime member Leatha Rush—who has been with the church since 1947—is known as its official hugger and has crafted stained-glass windows while leading its choirs over many decades.  KTVQ
  • Billings saw three key updates today: a Supreme Court case may affect marijuana users' rights to own guns with debates set to begin next year, while the Rescue Mission now offers free weekend hot dinners to support locals if SNAP benefits are cut in November—new $340,000 safety netting has been installed at Dehler Park to protect fans from foul balls.   • Billings Public Schools will set new calendars over the next three years after the SD2 board voted 7—1 to approve a week-long spring break scheduled for late to mid-March.  Billings Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Red Lodge Mountain will open in a couple weeks with the Triple Chair lift after safety modifications were made following the March accident that killed 37-year-old Jeff Zinne when erratic winds knocked him off. A local ski blogger said the changes include reinforced towers, stronger haul ropes, and extra wind speed monitors — though additional restraint bars may be added later.  KTVQ
