A Billings father is fighting to keep a memorial he built for his daughter who died on May 26 after airport officials warned it could distract motorists and demanded its removal by October 17.

He said he has held many meetings and made hundreds of calls—now he is exploring a new site for the memorial amid ongoing negotiations.

Local businesses and volunteers in Billings are stepping up as SNAP benefits remain frozen amid a federal shutdown, offering discounted meals and organizing a citywide food drive to help families in need.

Teriyaki Madness is selling a Junior Chicken Teriyaki Bowl for $5 (the effort now includes over 30 drop-off sites collecting nonperishable food for local pantries).

Aaron Weissman, owner of Teriyaki Madness, said he will offer junior chicken teriyaki bowls for five dollars at his Billings, Great Falls and Helena locations to help Montana families losing SNAP benefits this month — he plans to keep the offer active and hopes other local businesses will join in.
