- ➤ Billings residents can join the Yellowstone Rim Runners’ Run Turkey Run! event on Thursday, November 27 with a 5K road race at 9 a.m., a street mile dash at 10 a.m. and a costume contest at 8:30 a.m. The 40th annual Holiday Parade in downtown Billings will showcase over 60 festive floats and a Santa finale on Friday, November 28. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Developers propose a 1,000-square-foot Dutch Bros Coffee stand with a dual-lane drive-thru—designed to handle up to 20 vehicles—along the frontage of Rimrock Mall in Billings. If approved by city planning, the project will include an outdoor patio, seven dedicated parking spaces, and a walk-up pick-up window and will mark the chain's first Montana location. KTVQ
- ➤ Lockwood's transportation company Weave received $101,000 from the Montana State Fund for its low workplace injury rates and strict truck inspection routines. The state fund returned over $4 million to local companies that invest in safety measures — a reward aimed at preventing workplace accidents. KTVQ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Billings Public Schools added new eye-wash stations in all 34 schools to boost student safety in a partnership with Bauer and Clausen Optometry. Nurse Holly Kary said the stations have been used about two dozen times in a month and a half (helping treat eye injuries quickly) to prevent long-term damage. KULR8
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, Yellowstone County commissioners approved $12K from an emergency fund to help the Help for Homeless Pets shelter—facing higher rent and veterinary costs after Yellowstone Valley moved out of its old location. The shelter plans to use the funds as it works to relocate into the former Yellowstone Valley space while Billings City Administrator Chris Kukulski awaits state and city attorney approvals to ensure the building is safe. - ➤ Montana farmers have struggled with financial uncertainty as the government shutdown continued even after the USDA reopened 2,100 Farm Service Agency offices on Oct. 23 to release $3 billion in aid. Some farmers have received ARC and PLC payments, but marketing loan checks are still delayed — with low prices and tariff disputes raising fears of more bankruptcies as ag loans renew this fall. KTVQ
- ➤ Yellowstone County Treasurer Hank Peters said Rimrock Mall owes $592,009.78 in overdue 2024 taxes that include nearly $49,000 in penalties and interest, and although local investors have asked about the attached tax lien, no sale has been made. The mall continues to operate with new tenants while the county pursues collection efforts—its first half of 2025 taxes is due Nov. 30. KTVQ
- ➤ Montana Fish, Wildlife — Parks reaffirmed that corner crossing from one public land corner to another remains illegal and that permission from adjoining landowners is required. Local county attorneys may enforce the rule — anyone caught crossing without permission could face jail time or fines. KTVQ

- ➤ Billings therapist David Eichler from Next Stage Therapy and Counseling shares tips to treat seasonal depression as Montana ranks sixth for seasonal affective disorder. He advises patients to get tested for vitamin D and to try using a 10,000 lux light box at home — steps that may help ease the winter blues. KTVQ
- ➤ Recent data from the National Cancer Institute shows lung cancer cases in Montana fell from about 60 per 100,000 in 2011 to roughly 44 per 100,000 in 2021—deaths dropped as well though up to 20% of patients have little or no smoking history. KULR8

- ➤ Billings will host a new Tier II junior hockey team next September that will play at the upcoming Signal Peak Energy Arena—near Amend Park. The team will join the USPHL's National Collegiate Development Conference Mountain division and run a 54-game season while fans help choose its name. KTVQ
- ➤ The Outlaws Arena Football Team announced on Tuesday that it will leave Billings for the 2025 season because rising costs and lack of government support made it hard to fill TDS Fiber Field with $10 tickets for nationally televised games. Local owners interested in keeping the team should call selling agent Wayne Wilcox at 406-697-9800. KULR8
- ➤ Jesiah Stutts is a homeschool walk-on for Montana State Billings basketball who earned loud cheers and free haircuts at a recent tournament—his barbering skills have given him the nickname Homeslice and strong respect from his teammates. The sophomore, who once scored nearly 400 points a season in high school, hopes to score his first regular season basket soon. KTVQ
