COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Billings' new Rose Park Trail officially opened yesterday after a ribbon-cutting ceremony that celebrated local neighbors, families, students, and organizations. The 1,423-foot trail links 19th St W to 21st St W and features solar lights (donated by local partners) to improve safety and access in the area.  KULR8
  • Help for Homeless Pets in Billings is short on space and is considering moving into the old Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter off Monad Road—pending approval by the Montana Department of Environmental Quality—to better care for its 100 pets. The shelter, which has operated in the same building for over 25 years, now faces rising rent and repair costs as it ramps up fundraising for repairs and veterinary services.  KTVQ
  • Billings Best Properties’ Community Food and Coat Drive begins today at 10 a.m. at 2330 Grand Avenue and will run until 2 p.m., accepting nonperishable foods, hygiene products, winter clothing, and monetary donations for local nonprofits. The Rescued and Reclaimed: Country Christmas Market offers early entry today at 5 p.m. for $15.50 tickets and general admission tomorrow at 10 a.m., while the Canyon Creek String Orchestra Fall Concert will play free music on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mayflower Congregational Church.  KTVQ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Montana farmers struggled with financial pressure as delayed federal aid payments and low crop prices left them wary of facing their bankers amid unsold harvests. Meanwhile, Rimrock Mall still owed over $590,000 in back taxes—despite new tenants moving in—and a local company earned $101,000 for strong workplace safety practices, raising concerns about financial stability in the community.  KTVQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Billings Municipal Court is running a Food for Fines program that gives residents a $10 credit toward court fines with each donated nonperishable food item—up to a $200 credit per person. The court will accept donations from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on November 13 and today and again November 18–21 at City Hall on North 26th Street.  KULR8

  • Billings Clinic and St. Vincent Regional Hospital received top grades for patient safety after a recent review—both hospitals have earned this designation multiple times over the years.  Billings Gazette

  • The Montana Grizzlies will play Portland State in their final road game of the regular season on Nov. 15 with kickoff at 3:00 p.m. from Providence Park in downtown Portland and the game will be shown on The Spot MTN and streamed on ESPN Plus.  KTVQ
