An early Tuesday morning fire in Lockwood off of Johnson Lane destroyed a home and killed four pets—leaving homeowner Valerie Ellis hospitalized after trying to rescue them and losing all her belongings including her business.

Montana's First Lady Susan Gianforte has joined NonStop Local and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of Montana to run a Giving Tuesday book drive for children from newborns to five.
The Connect Center will open tomorrow—volunteers will answer questions and sign up families for free book deliveries.
On Giving Tuesday, families in Billings and across Montana embraced the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a program that sends free, age-appropriate books each month to children from birth to five.
Local parent Melanie McKee said her daughter feels excited when she gets a book + the program helps young readers develop early skills.

Billings Streets Division is still working to clear icy roads after the first heavy winter storm of the year using plows, salt and sand as extra snow and a flash freeze made streets dangerous.
The crew is focusing on busy routes such as Zimmerman Trail and Skyway Drive—covering over 1,200 miles of city streets.
Local officials will begin installing new safety features at the busy Mary and Bitterroot intersection this week after several serious crashes and long-standing neighbor concerns.
