- ➤ Community leaders, students and educators gathered for the official groundbreaking at Daylis Stadium on Monday, Dec. 15 — the $14.9 million facility is planned for completion by fall. Billings Gazette
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ ZooMontana announced two new bobcats, Sonny and Goldie, after nearly 2,000 votes from residents—names inspired by Montana State University traditions. KULR8
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ More than 32,000 businesses statewide will see a UI tax cut saving over $23M in 2026 following Gov. Gianforte’s reforms and the passage of HB 210 in 2025. Employers will get their tax rate letters next week. KULR8
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City Public Works announced that residential plowing in Billings’ areas 1 and 2 ends today as warmer temperatures leave snow packed down for faster melting. Crews will continue applying deicing products & hauling center-stacked snow to ease risks from slush and puddles. KULR8
- ➤ RiverStone Health (the county health department) will ban all food and drink products containing kratom in licensed establishments across Yellowstone County starting Jan. 1, 2026; rising overdose deaths have prompted the move. Affected businesses will get notifications to remove products before enforcement begins. KTVQ

- ➤ Local fans are invited to vote on the name for this weekend’s Cat Griz rematch in town (the poll will help shape the game’s branding and community spirit). Vote details will be shared as the event approaches. KULR8
