  • Montana Rescue Mission appointed Dyann Romeijn as its new executive director this week to rebuild trust with the community after former director Matt Lundgren was fired. She will work on a 90-day plan (ensuring accountability and strengthening local ties) as staff restore stability.  KTVQ
  • State employees donated nearly 10,500 pounds of food to the Montana Food Bank Network in the agency drive held Dec. 2–Dec. 15, breaking records as the Department of Health and Human Services won first place, Gov. Gianforte announced.  KULR8

HEALTH NEWS

  • Eight-month-old Rowan Edgell began an experimental genetic treatment at Billings Clinic in September and is now almost cancer-free; a follow-up MRI scheduled Monday will check for any remaining mass while his family credits strong local support for the breakthrough.  KTVQ
  • Yellowstone County confirmed its first flu death when an unvaccinated man in his 80s died two weeks ago (a reminder that influenza can be severe). RiverStone Health and DPHHS urge residents to get flu and COVID-19 vaccines to help prevent the spread.  KULR8

  • The Flying Pickle, an Idaho-based pickleball franchise, is delaying its plan to convert the former Costco store into indoor courts in Billings. The 150,000 sqft facility is now expected to open next summer or fall after an original plan for early next year was pushed back.  KTVQ
