  • BARK will host its annual fundraiser Monday in Billings, featuring dog agility, corgi races, and other dog-related events—organizers will offer music, bingo, and food for humans with admission set at $5.  Billings Gazette
  • Students in Shepherd raised $4,708 in a relay event where children learned about cancer by taking a lap around the track and supporting the American Cancer Society. • The Western Heritage Center hosted historic walking tours starting yesterday at 10:00 a.m. from 2822 Montana Ave—featuring a theme called Bars, Brothels and Bok Choy with $10 tickets and tours capped at 15 people to explore local history. Meanwhile, Greycliff Mill is running free family events from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during Memorial Day Weekend and Billings’ first annual Memorial Day Parade began 10:30 a.m. today at the Met Transit Station before ending at Dehler Park with a ceremony honoring 49 Montana fallen soldiers and free hotdogs for the first 150 kids.  KTVQ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A house on Cactus Drive in midtown burned on Thursday night, causing a strong smoky smell and a power outage until about 10:30 p.m., while neighbors rushed outside with a garden hose (and a camper trailer was beyond repair) as fire crews worked to stop the flames and officials began investigating the cause.  KTVQ

CRIME NEWS

  • A Billings man, Loren Cody Smoker, was convicted Friday of fatally shooting a driver in a West End drive-by that followed a fight last summer—he now awaits sentencing and could face life in prison.  Billings Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tipped workers in Montana have paid state taxes on their tips since last year after Senate Bill 399 tied the state’s taxable income to the federal system—ending the previous exemption. If Congress approves a federal bill that exempts tips for workers earning under $160,000, Montana will revert to its old policy, which in 2023 would have produced about $6.5 million in revenue if applied.  KTVQ
